Amplify!PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — Building a strong northwest Florida is a team effort, and the Gulf Power Foundation is awarding nearly $1 million in grants to 36 organizations across the region to do just that.

The Amplify! grants, a one-time grant opportunity, will support organizations in continuing to implement effective programs within the Gulf Power service area. The program is designed to provide non-profits with a one-time capacity building grant to enable them to reduce costs, increase revenues or generate stronger results.

“The key to our Amplify! grants model is that they help the organization maximize its operations and make improvements,” said Jennifer McFarren, deputy manager for the Gulf Power Foundation. “Where some grants may pay for new technology or strategic planning, the Amplify! grants are geared toward improving the organization so that it can be more effective and efficient in its efforts.”

The Amplify! grants cover two main areas:

  • Prosperity through Opportunity and Health & Human Being categories
  • Preservation and Conservation categories

Of the applications submitted, 36 organizations were approved for grants totaling more than $966,000. Grants average within a range of $15,000 – $40,000.

Thirty-one grants in the Opportunity and Health & Human Being categories have allowed the organizations to increase annual organizational revenue by $420,000 and decrease annual expenses by $339,000, benefitting more than 34,000 participants and 184 non-profit organizations.

Five grants – in the Preservation and Conservation categories – represent an $185,000 investment in restoring 1,912 acres of land, two bodies of water restored, 10,001 animal species replenished as well as 751 plants or vegetation being restored.

The Gulf Power Foundation is funded entirely through resources independent of Gulf Power’s customers.
